In the most recent available survey, Carndonagh has the 3rd strongest grocery market in Donegal, exceeded only by Letterkenny and Donegal town. Carndonagh has seen rapid expansion in recent years. The town centre has undergone major development with new civic offices, a new road infrastructure and a remodelling of the popular "Diamond" town centre. Additionally, Carndonagh boasts one of the largest secondary schools in the country, with the surrounding areas of Clonmany, Ballyliffin, Malin, Malin Head, Culdaff, Gleneely, Glentogher and Muff, all encompassed in Carndonagh’s growing catchment area.
